Debrecen “Maskarádé” Cup
International Figure Skating Competition

ÖrömWelcome message of Lajos Kósa, Mayor of Debrecen

Welcome to Debrecen!

At the end of February young figure skaters will capture Debrecen Ice Hall, and Debrecen “Maskarádé” Cup will begin. The City of Debrecen has hosted international ice-hockey events several times. In 2004 the World U18 Championship Division II, in 2005 group matches of the World Championship Division I, in 2009 World U20 Championship Division II were organized here. Ice sports have been popular in town since the Debrecen Hockey Club keeps winning the Hungarian 2nd League Championships. Our aim is that Debrecen should play in the future an important and unquestionable role in the national and international life of figure skating, too.
I wish good luck to the foreign participants and their Hungarian opponents in the competition.
I hope that our guests can get acquainted with the squares, streets and cultural values of Debrecen in their short free time, and will enjoy delicious local food as well.
See you in Debrecen!
