Debrecen
Debrecen is situated near the eastern boarder of Hungary, 220 km away from Budapest. Being the capital of Hajdú-Bihar County, Debrecen is the second most populous city in Hungary with its 208 thousand inhabitants. Over the last few years, the city has seen several developments executed. The city centre underwent a complete overhaul and was built into a huge walking street.
On the main square Europe’s largest ceramics fountain was built with an impressive 20-meter diameter. An indoor Mediterranean spa, unique in the country, has been serving the recreation of guests for several years, while the Kölcsey Conference Centre, opened for the public in February 2006, serves as the regional bastion of culture and tourism.

The public utility company established in 2000 and owned by the City of Debrecen keeps on managing the Sportcomplex of Oláh Gábor Street, the Nagyerdei Stadium, the Hódos Imre Event Hall, the Sport Hotel and since December 2008 the Debrecen Sports Swimming Pool. During the years certainly developments have been executed which is proved by many restored establishments – some of the most important examples of it, are the Sport Hotel meeting every requirement and giving possibility for family vacations, conferences and training camps or the artificial grassy football grounds opened in 2007. Besides it, Debrecen Sport Centre considers the organisation of world competitions (co-operating with the Local Government) its considerable task.

Debrecen Ice Hall
Debrecen Ice Hall was built in May 2004 in order to provide modern and full services for all the professional and amateur teams and competitors of ice sports (ice hockey, figure and short track skating, and curling) of the region and also for guests who love to skate. The establishment plays a central role in the sport life of the region and provides an adequate background for the developing competitive sports. In the past five years around 10,000 children learned to skate in Debrecen Ice Hall, a number of national and international events have been organized, including ice hockey tournaments, figure skating competitions and curling cups.

DSC-SI Jégkarc Club
“Jégkarc” Club was founded in 2004 in order to embrace figure skating in Debrecen and in its region. The short and long term aim is to ensure young talented competitors for Debrecen and for Hungary. The Club organizes skate courses for children and teaches students in the framework of Physical Education classes in order to continuously popularize skating – as a spare time sport activity – and to teach the basics for ice sports.
“Jégkarc” Club organizes galas twice a year – in May and in December – where competitors of the Club, children participating in the skate courses, students from the Physical Education classes show their acquired knowledge in a playful form.
Our aim is to educate and train children to become adult figure skating competitors.
As members of the Hungarian Skate Federation and of Debrecen Sport School – since 1 July 2005 – our competitors regularly take part in various international, national and regional championships.

Aquaticum Mediterranean Pleasure Baths
Aquaticum Mediterranean Pleasure Baths is located in the heart of the Great Forest of Debrecen, under a dome of 66-meter diameter. The abundance of tropical plants and adventure elements of this special facility makes summer out of every day of the year. The water paradise provides full-day relaxation and entertainment for each generation.
A baby pool awaits the smallest ones, and there is a children pool for the older children. The water paradise also accommodates a restaurant and a Thai Massage Centre. New adventure elements include water choppers and adventure paths with both these facilities being accessible from the wave pool.
